I know we would like to think the world is a better place and we are all getting along.

Unfortunately, that is not the case.

Now, don’t get me wrong, we have made some significant progress and we should celebrate! However, there are still pockets of injustice, racism, and biases within our schools.

The good news is that you hold the power to change and make a difference. YES, YOU! As educators, we are on the frontline of many issues and we have the ability to create safe environments for our students, faculty, and staff.

How do we do that?

* By looking within ourselves and identifying our core values

* Understanding Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Pedagogy

* Being aware of our unconscious and implicit biases

We Teach and Lead Who WE Are and if we are not aware of how we are showing up in our school districts, not being careful with our words, or are oblivious to how we treat people (faculty, staff and students) then we cannot expect change to occur.

Hi, I'm Dr. Vernita

Strategic Transformational Coach and Consultant. I help leaders connect their core values to content and curriculum. I help them unpack what it really means to teach and lead ALL students and become trailblazers in the Training and Development Industry. I have personally completed self-development work with my core values and found the connection to my interactions with students in the classroom, workshops and the resources I was or wasn't implementing in my instruction or trainings. As a result, I have opened the eyes of many leaders and educators by helping them understand that educating is more than content, build stronger connections with their students and faculty/staff, and understand what it means to be a socially responsible educator and culturally conscious leader. I will walk you through a few steps to help you get started in this direction as well.

Did you know that the average student spends over 1400 hours in school while administrators, faculty, and staff spend double and maybe even triple that amount of time being in or connected to their schools? That's A LOT of time to spend with people, which means we have to work together and understand our differences and similarities.

That is why I created the

Culture Shock Your Leadership mini course.

To give you insight into the process of becoming culturally responsive and a socially responsible educator.

The workshop was amazing and so many of our administrators and district staff really needed to hear the message about implicit bias and microaggressions. We need to remember the importance of working together because it's all about the kids.

Dr. Treva Jeffries Executive Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion - Toledo Public Schools

I am one of the Directors for our multi-million dollar grant - Project IMPACT and I was at the workshop to support our pre-service and Supervising teachers. However, I became a participant and realized that I needed to check back in with my core values and see if they still aligned to the work I am doing.

Dr. Joanna Weaver Assistant Professor , Bowling Green State University

What if learning more about Diversity and Inclusion did not make you feel like a bad person?

What if you uncovered a part of your identity that allowed you to build a better connection with your students, faculty and/or staff?

What if the students in your classroom/school engaged more in the curriculum and felt safe being themselves?

What if the faculty and staff also felt more safe in the school building?

ALL of these are POSSIBLE with the Culture Shock Your Leadership  mini course.
