HOW TO SET GOALS: The Ultimate Guide for High Achievers & Over thinkers Pt. 4

Today we’re going to talk about how to be resilient to achieve your goals in 2023 and beyond. We’re continuing our goal setting series for overthinkers and high achievers. This is part 4. Be sure to check out parts 1-3  via video or blog post. So far we’ve talked about courage , telling the truth and having mental endurance.

In case you can’t wait on the next video or read the next post here are the overall steps:

  • Have courage to admit what you want
  • Be detailed oriented about what you want
  • Have endurance and don’t give up
  • Be resilient
  • Focus on perfection

Most of us usually accomplish things on the first or maybe 2nd try. But this isn’t always the case when it’s something we’ve never done before. You might be thinking that you were successful in college and you didn’t have to repeat that (okay maybe you repeated one class but not the entire experience).  But consider this, you had practice taking classes almost your entire life and you didn’t just show up on day one and get your degree on day two. There were a lot of setbacks and break downs along the way but we forget that because we have the degrees. We live in the end result and forget about the journey.  Then, as we’ve gotten older, many of us treat setbacks like the end of the world. I’ll admit, it is more challenging when you have setbacks after you have been successful for so long. But it doesn’t have to be.
There are 9 ways to flex your bounce back muscle or be resilient. I talk more about other strategies in my book Embracing Grit for Greatness. Today, I will share 4 of my favorite bounce back tips.

It’s important that you build your:

  1. Faith-in-self muscle. You may believe in your goal but do you believe that YOU will accomplish the goal?
  2. Know-like-you-know muscle – there will be times when it feels like the goal isn’t progressing or it doesn’t make sense and people question you…or you question yourself. You have to know like you know like you that this is what you were meant to do and believe that God has created a universe that will support you. You also have to know that He will course- correct  the goal when needed.
  3. Say-Yes muscles – there is opportunity all around us that support our goals but you have to say yes when you get inspired action and divine downloads. Another way to think of the say-yes muscle is that when you say Y.E.S – your experience shifts (courtesy of Marshawn Evans Daniels).
  4. Highest-choice muscle – know when to say no to distractions and choose activities and tasks from your future self versus your current reality

While being resilient is about bouncing back but it is more about HOW you bounce back. It’s about the person you become on your way back up to the top…your attitude, character, and state of being.

I would love to hear from you tell me your best tip or which one of my tips resonated with you.
